One of the lightest tripods in the test, photographers on the move could carry this model around all day and barely notice its weight. In fact, most of the lenses in your kit bag are heavier than the Kood’s carbon-fibre frame. All this weight-saving does come at a price though, and it’s the stability that suffers. Although you shouldn’t notice any problems with lighter DSLRs fitted with kit lenses, heavier bodies such as the Canon EOS 40D or the Nikon D700 will prove unsteady on this tripod – especially if they’re fitted with heavy glass. The Kood tripod is packed with features, including foam leg grips, a spirit level and even a compass to help landscape photographers find the right direction of light (or maybe their bearings), but won't prove as stable as rivals.
Verdict:
The Kood tripod is packed with features, easy to carry and adequate for light use, but the stability does suffer with heavier loads.
