this is a variation on a theme of gender: I had seen paintings similar in pose, of crusader knights contemplating the next days battle. i thought i would skew the image by switching genders, to see if the image is read in the same way?

I quite like both of these although a western woman with the Katana and lacking its companions doesn't quite gel for me. Perhaps a Chinese broadsword or the European version, a sabre perhaps, would be less incongruous. Just my thoughts on that... Nice lighting, is the original on which this is based "cropped" the same, ie. subject centred? -Terry

the original image as i recall had an altar infront of the sitter and banners on the rear wall

The shadows on and cast by the model's boobs spoil this shot.
