the sound of youth

This shot was all about timing and composition. I had to wait for the moment when both ears were pointed ahead, and the filly stayed still long enough for me to focus on the rain drops.

The weather was very temperamental with sudden heavy showers, and then bright sunshine. Being only a couple of weeks old it was the first rain this filly had experienced making her extremely exuberant, running out in the rain and then retreating to the safety of her mother. I took the opportunity when she finally stood still listening to the noises the weather brought with it. Just as I took this shot the sun came through the clouds causing the rain drops to glisten slightry and add a "halo" effect. Using photoshop I merely cropped and tweaked the levels. I chose black and white as I felt it drew attention to the composition and range of tones complimenting the overall shot.
