Feeding Time

Taken at Chester Zoo five minutes before feeding. I think that's why he was looking interested!

Taken with a 70 - 300 lens @ 300mm. ISO400

Thanks Richard I was very lucky - he was sitting in the only patch of sunlight in the entire enclosure. Poke the lens through the mesh - try and hold steady - and with a little cropping this is the result. Ron

Thanks Karl But I 'll swap Chester Zoo (no offense Chester Zoo) for a trip to Kenya! Mind you it was pretty scary - I had to fight my way through at least 30 eight year olds to get the shot!!! Ron

There is a railing but if you lean forward you can just about put the lens against the mesh which is about 2" wide - just enough to get the shot

Must have missed it earlier and it's fantastic! Amazing detail, makes me to want to dip my hand into his mane :) Really hard to imagine it was taken in this kinda circumstances, great quality, and the expression is so cool!

Dip your hand into his mane Milla?? You could become famous as the first one armed photographer. ( You should have seen what he did to large lump of meat about two minutes later!!!!!).

ooooh he's a beauty!!! i just love the detail and the texture - could just reach out and stroke him, or like Milla says bury my hand in his main. i couldn't resist and added a couple 'animal' shots of my own :-)
