Sony Alpha 65 versus Sony Alpha 77

What's the difference between the Sony Alpha 77 and 65? We take a look in this comparison

The Alpha 65 was released alongside the Alpha 77, which offers a near-identical specification. Here we highlight the major differences between the two models:

The A77, body only, costs £1,149, as opposed to £789 for the A65. The A77 sports a magnesium alloy body rather than polycarbonate, has two control dials rather than one and a top-plate LCD panel.

The AF system is a newly designed 19-point system with 11 cross-type sensors, while the menu system allows for fine-tuning of lens focus. The A77 also offers a joystick control on the rear, a PC sync socket for studioflash and a triple-hinged LCD monitor with slightly more articulation than the A65.

Other major differences are the A77's faster shutter speed of 1/8000sec and a slightly bigger, heavier body.
