BREAKING NEWS FROM PMA USA: Sony announces flagship full frame 24.6-megapixel Alpha DSLR
FLAGSHIP MODEL (+ THE ALPHA 300 AND ALPHA 350) JUST ANNOUNCED AT PMA VEGAS SHOW
Dan Lezano reports from the PMA Convention in Las Vegas: "I've just stepped out of Sony's press meeting pretty much stunned by the surprise announcement from Sony that by the end of the year, we'll have our hands on a 24.6-megapixel full frame Alpha DSLR. This announcement means that by the end of the year, Sony will have the Alpha 200, 300, 350, 700 and what I'll tag the Alpha Pro in its range, backed up by a ever-growing system back-up of lenses, accessories, digital picture frames (S-Frames -announced today) and more. In other words, it's going to be a very serious player in the DSLR arena. Specifications are sketchy, but we were told it has a full-frame 24.6 EXMOR CMOS sensor and Super SteadyShot shake reduction. A sample's on the Sony stand, but it's completely swamped by the press, so I can't bring you an image at the moment, but hopefully later there'll be something to see. That's it from me at the moment, all the best, Dan."
