New Metz flashguns
New flashgun units go on sale
Popular third-party flashgun manufacturer Metz has released two new models – the 50 AF-1 (£230) and the higher-end 58 AF-2 (£370), both of which are compatible with Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony and Olympus. The more compact 50 AF-1 has a guide number of 50 (ISO 100), can swivel 300 degrees and Metz claim it can generate 330 full flashes using a set of (2100mAh) AA batteries.
As its name suggest, the larger 58 AF-2 has a guide number of 58, but can only manage 230 full flashes. However, the 58 AF-2 is also equipped with an integrated slave/servo sensor, which makes off-camera flash possible when using cameras with an integral flash, but no master control.
