Landscape Photographer of the Year to join Light & Land Team
Antony Spencer joins the Light & Land Team
Press release:
Charlie Waite, founder and owner of ‘Take A View’ Landscape Photographer of the Year awards has confirmed that the current winner, Antony Spencer, will be joining the exclusive team of tour leaders at Light & Land.
Light & Land is Charlie’s specialist photographic training and travel company, which - established over 16 years ago - takes guests all over the UK and abroad, under the expert guidance of some of the best photographers in the world. All of the Light & Land tour leaders are handpicked – only the very best photographers and trainers are part of this passionate and inspirational team.
Workshops and tours cater for all levels of photography – from absolute beginners (you can even borrow a camera to get you started), right through to more adventurous photographic adventures to the wilds of Asia, the USA and Canada and across Europe.
Antony Spencer won the coveted Landscape photographer of the year in 2010 and has since made the step to become a full time photographer, working closely alongside Charlie Waite. Previously a stonemason, Antony has already hosted his own photographic workshops, including tours to photograph the spectacular natural phenomenon that is the Aurora Borealis in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.
Antony, aged 30, is based in Dorset and has a passion for capturing the landscape in the best available light. Having lived his whole life in the South West, he is very passionate about the varied landscape there, from beautiful rolling down land, to the incredible coastline of the southwestern peninsula - from Dorset right round to North Devon and Somerset.
Charlie Waite said: ‘In winning Landscape Photographer of the Year, Antony demonstrated that among thousands photographers he has that special ability to make an image which transports the viewer to the same place where he the photographer stood, enabling the viewer of the image to drink from the same emotional source that he did.
‘In Antony we also saw a natural talent for training and the sharing of photographic expertise and passion – key attributes in our Light & Land tour leaders. Antony is a very accomplished landscape photographer, has high standards and cares deeply that his work should awaken the viewer and he achieves this in abundance.
‘We welcome Antony to the Light & Land team and I personally look forward to working alongside this knowledgeable and inspirational photographer.’
Antony said: ‘It’s amazing to be a part of a photographic tour company as prestigious as Light & Land and to be working alongside the very best of British landscape photographers and teachers.
‘I’m very much looking forward to getting the workshops underway and getting out the U.S.A and Canada next year, also sharing my knowledge, in hope of capturing the beauty of some of the most stunning locations on earth.’
Alongside Charlie, Antony will be hosting a one day workshop at the National Trust’s Stourhead, on 12 August 2011 priced at just £149. Full details are available at www.lightandland.co.uk/tours/availability
Antony will also lead his own Light & Land tours to the Canadian Rockies, Brecon Beacons, North Devon and the Palouse and Olympic National Park in Washington State.
