Nikon announces AF-S DX 40mm f/2.8G Micro lens

Prices at £250 and offers lifesize reproduction

Nikon has released details of the latest macro lens for its range of DX (APS-C) digital SLRs. Priced at a very reasonable £250, the 40mm f/2.8G has an effective focal length of 60mm, which also makes it suitable for use as a portrait lens.

It boasts a lifesize (1:1) reproduction ratio and a very close focus of 16.3cm. Its Silent Wave Motor promises very fast, accurate and quiet AF, with electronic fovcusing allowing the user to manually focus the lens if required without having to switch it from AF to M.

The 40mm f/2.8G measures 68.5x64.5mm, weighs only 235 grams and is supplied with a hood and case.
